@ Little House – Waikiki is actually the most touristy destination in Hawaii, however, most sites have been about Oahu island, and Honolulu in general. This is a niche that will discuss the Waikiki area specifically down to local bars, beaches, things to do, real estate, moving guide, etc… Waikiki is a specific area that is about 2 miles long and half a mile across. I’ll also keep a personal feel to it like I do on this site.

Sounds like a great idea. Especially since I have no clue where Waikiki is! Where is it in relation to the 5 more known islands? Obviously, there is a need for information to people looking for less crowded Hawaiian vacation spots.

@ Sire – Were there any specific resources that would’ve been helpful that were missing when you were planning your vacation?

@ Ty – Thanks for the idea, I would’ve never thought of that! I plan on making it a combination tourist site and a guide for people moving to the Waikiki area so resources like that will be helpful to all.

A suggestion from my last trip home, include a page with information about urgent care clinics. My boyfriend's ear infection didn't clear up after his antibiotics ran out during our last visit and he didn't feel comfortable flying back to the east coast in that condition. Neither my old GP or my parents' GP could see him, it was new years eve, and we didn't know of any urgent care clinics. We didn't want to go to the ER for an ear infection so I spent a couple of minutes on-line and found a list of places. Nobody wants to have to think about seeking medical assistance when vacationing in paradise but it happens.

My family and I actually spent our vacation in Hawaii and we stayed at Waikiki. It was fantastic, there was always plenty to do and when you just wanted to relax we would spend it on the beautiful beach.

We often talk of going there again so that we could visit all our ‘cousins’.

@ Thriftygal – I would highly recommend site build it if you’re considering starting an online business. Before I even knew what html was I signed up with them and learned the ABC’s of how a successful website is built. A lot of what they taught me I use today on this site. It’s a very genuine product that doesn’t sell hype, only honesty and results.

I also am a big fan of Steve Pavlina’s site… one of my favorites.

Ryan! We seem to be having similar interests! I heard of Site Build It via Steve Pavlina’s blog (which if you haven’t checked out yet, is an awesome personal development site) but of course it takes me ages to get anything started. @ Tracy – That’s not selfish at all! I love teaching people what I know (what little that is) and hopefully this will be a good learning experience for you and I together.

@ Coach – Yes, free virtual tours, via a video camera! I’ll be sharing every single little detail… it’ll be like behind the scenes in Waikiki! Honestly, I want this to be a full on tutorial with step by step instructions of what I do. I think it will be absolutely invaluable to get opinions from other helpful bloggers like yourself as the site progresses so that the competition doesn’t stand a chance against the collective wisdom of the PF blogosphere!
