Excellent post! I am about to make a deposit of my savings into an account and this clearly helped me define my financial strategy. I would rather become rich over time and with much less stress.

You need to diversify and take advantage of the benefits of both accounts.

Savings account is more important than buying shares. Though both involves risk, I think having a savings account entails lesser risk.

Many factors should be considered when choosing on where to place your hard-earned money. And among them would be your appetite for risk and financial knowledge and skills. Before putting money in some form of investment, better make sure that you know the ins and outs of that investment option.

I'm a sucker who only uses savings accounts, I haven't ventured into other savings/investing vehicles at all, other than an old 401(k) I rolled over into an IRA, and a Roth IRA that I set up on autopilot a year or two ago. Other than that, all of my "savings" goes into an Internet savings account that, when I signed up for it, offered more than 5% interest. Granted the market has brought that down to a little more than 1%, but it still beats the heck out of my banks ungodly rate of .00000000(infinity)001%.

Honestly, I've never even thought about any other "investment" or "retirement" accounts because I don't know jack about them. So this guest post was awesome in that I learned something new. Maybe when I get my financial tail out from between my legs, I'll try looking into shares...

Great guest post, as always :)

I think it was written by Fred and not by Ryan.
And it's indeed a bit hard to compare the two, but not entirely impossible.. I mean you want both of them to lead to profit.
